Our Story
Born From a Night
We Almost Slept Outside
TrustStayNG exists because its founder lived the exact nightmare every traveller to Nigeria fears — arriving at a booked apartment only to find someone else already in it.
The Trip That Started It All
Two years ago, our founder travelled to Nigeria and reserved an apartment through an agent — the way most people do it. Everything seemed fine. Confirmation received. Money paid. Excitement building.
Then he arrived.
Someone else had already checked in. The property owner had accepted a direct payment from another guest, while the agent had never actually remitted the booking fee. Double-booked. Stranded. In an unfamiliar city, at night, scrambling to find somewhere — anywhere — to sleep.
That night could have ended badly. Instead, it became the spark for TrustStayNG.
The problem wasn't just one dishonest agent. It was an entire ecosystem built on informal arrangements, unverified listings, misleading photos, and zero accountability. Guests had no way of knowing if a property was real, available, or anything like the pictures. Hosts had no structured platform that protected them either.
We decided to fix it — not with another listing site, but with verification at the core.
Our Strategy: Verify, Then Verify Again
Our primary strategy is the verification and recertification of properties — to make sure they remain as displayed and available for you on arrival. No surprises, no double bookings, no misleading photos.
Verified & Recertified
Properties are inspected before listing and periodically rechecked. You arrive to exactly what was advertised.
Power Supply Transparency
See actual power hours, generator availability, and inverter backup — before you book.
Professional Photography
Real photos taken by our team, not stock images or misleading angles.
20/80 Secure Payment
Pay just 20% upfront to secure your booking. The remaining 80% goes directly to the host at check-in.
Built for Lagos
Neighbourhood-level insights for Lekki, VI, Ikoyi, Ikeja and beyond. Local knowledge baked into every listing.
What Travellers Face Today
Nigeria's short-let market is booming, but trust hasn't caught up. Most bookings still happen through WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, or word-of-mouth agents — with no escrow, no verification, and no recourse when things go wrong.
Diaspora travellers, business visitors, and medical tourists are especially vulnerable. They're booking from thousands of miles away with nothing but a few photos and a prayer.
Problems We've Seen Firsthand
- Double bookings — two guests, one apartment
- Photos from years ago that no longer match reality
- Agents who collect money but never remit to the owner
- "24-hour power" that means 6 hours and a noisy generator
- No customer support when things go wrong
TrustStayNG was built to end this cycle.
What We Stand For
Verification Over Vanity
We don't just list properties — we verify them. Every listing goes through checks before it reaches you.
Recertification
Properties are periodically re-verified to ensure they remain exactly as displayed. What you see is what you get.
Guest-First Thinking
Every product decision starts with one question: does this make the guest feel safer?
Radical Transparency
Power supply hours, real photos, honest pricing. No hidden surprises on arrival.
